athene: (wedding kiss)

We went to our local Faire yesterday for our friend’s vow renewal ceremony. Little Prince fits much better into the outfit that Zee made for him last year (and we still have to pin it a bit, since she cut the necks HUGE). The day turned out to be cold and rainy, but we still had a great time. Maybe it was because the crowds were smaller or maybe because we were out so much last year that we’ve started to recognize and be recognized by the regulars, but we had way more interactions with cast and others this year than in previous years. Or maybe it was just how cute LP is. Two different gypsies asked me his price (he’s much too young to sell to them yet) and I had to keep a close eye on him when the fae were around so they wouldn’t steal him away.

The vow renewal ceremony went well. Afterwards we went to the Fest Hall for a feast. The food was good and the company was delightful. There was a little girl there, T, who had just turned 3. She and LP were running around chasing each other, and then her shoe fell off. I caught what happened on video.

Why yes, we’ve been watching a lot of Cinderella at our house lately, how did you know?

Dear lord are our weekends busy in March.

First weekend we went to the Kite Festival. Decided it's not really worth going back until Little Prince is at least 4.

This past weekend we worked Sherwood Forset Faire on Saturday. Loads of fun. I love that Faire so much.

This coming weekend is a friend's annual crawfish boil, a free k's choice show as part of SXSW, and I actually kind of want to go to the UU church for Ostara.

The weekend after that we're working Faire on Saturday again.

Then it's Easter weekend and my dad and step-mom will be in town. It's also TableTopDay that Saturday, and we might try to go to Faire one more time.

Then it's the first weekend of April and PBF.

Then we collapse in a heap and never leave our house again, except to buy food, until there are more interesting things to do or it's time to head to New Orleans for Memorial Day weekend/Little Prince's Birthday.

Friday night [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith went to go see How to Train Your Dragon. It was a fairly typical kids movie plot, but ZOMG SO CUTE! Want dragon!!! We went to the Lake Creek Drafthouse where that night they were also playing all three Evil Dead movies and so some of the waitstaff were dressed up like zombies. It was truly awesome.

Saturday we headed over to [livejournal.com profile] pyroyo007's for his annual crawfish boil (after feeding [livejournal.com profile] byskwik's cats). We were only going to stay for a little while, but I ended up staying for a long time (Aerith had another thing, so he left and then came back). Mmmm...crawfish.

That night we were going to do one of the 4 or 5 different things that we knew of, but we were so dead from the day that we came home, had ice cream and crashed (after feeding [livejournal.com profile] byskwik's cats).

Sunday I got up and went to a brunch meeting (after feeding [livejournal.com profile] byskwik's cats). After the meeting I drove home, picked up [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and our Ren garb and headed out to Sherwood Forest Faire. Took us about an hour to get there (we got a little confused a few times...especially because the right turn after turning off of 290 isn't well marked) and another 20 or so to get dressed due to laces and winds and dust.

The faire itself was really nice. I think it was a great size with lots of artists, vendors, musicians, etc. OMG, the Italian food place! Got to see the Austin Browncoats, my friends at Abzu Emporium, and listen to the lovely Tulstin Troubadours. I got my hair braided really pretty with flowers and glitter and everything. [livejournal.com profile] knighthorse took pictures and hopefully a few came out well.

The only thing that really disappointed me about the faire was the lack of interaction between the Faire's actors and the faire goers. I almost literally ran into Robin Hood at one point, but nothing...not that I have a character or anything, but aren't they supposed to?

Came home and pretty much fell over.

I've been enjoying my last week of "freedom" before I rejoin the working world.

I've spent most of the week so far cleaning up the apartment (gods, did it need it). The study is in a MUCH better shape than it has been in a long time. There's still a lot to go on it (can we say total reorganization of the closet), but the paperwork is off of my desk-bed/the floor and has been put away, put into meaningful piles, or been trashed/recycled. Last night [livejournal.com profile] syhira brought over the futon base that she no longer needs so we put my desk-bed up on top of it. It's going to take some time for me to adjust to my desk-bed being up so high. I've also tackled the mess that was the kitchen and just finished doing a dark hand-wash load in the washer (I love that my washer has that setting).

I hope to finish cleaning this place up this week, which includes lots of vacuuming and possibly reorganizing my clothing (especially the clothing in the closet...I may need to buy more hangers).

I've also spent some time reading Children of Dune, watching Season 2 of Weeds (wow it's a good show!) and watching some Firefly. Had a nice long conversation today with [livejournal.com profile] artemis42, which I think we both needed.

Last night I went to karaoke and stayed out very late doing so. It was a lot of fun (as always) and I really had a good time/felt that I rocked it. I sang a bunch (yay for a short rotation). I think that my favorites of the night were "Call Me", "Walk this Way" (the pure Aerosmith version), and "The Time of My Life" duet with [livejournal.com profile] zyrain.

Next week: work. In three weeks = week long trip to Massachusetts. October = filling up fast with the Browncoat Ball, TRF, and Halloween parties.

Oh and [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I are planning to go to RHPS this weekend. Let us know if you are coming too.
athene: (Who Dat! Saints!)
Today [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I went to the Austin Celtic Festival. We had a lot of fun. There were lots and lots of pretty things to buy, but we didn't have the $$ :(. We did get a copy of our favorite bumper sticker, since the only copy we had was on my old car and we hadn't gotten a new one for this car.

Ran into people we knew and watched Need Fire's first set. Got to love a rock band that includes someone playing the bagpipes. OMG, I am so in love with the guy who played the electric violin in a KILT!

Talking about kilts...so many men in them. men in kilts make the 'Thene happy. Very very happy. mmm...kilts!

In other news, the Saints won their 4th in a row. They are now 4-4!
Also, Whole Foods had organic Empire apples.
