athene: (wedding kiss)
Life's been crazy busy, in a good way. So here's a quick list of what's going on:

• The Sunday before last [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I rolled up 3.5/3.75 characters for a run. It's the typical gamer ratio (7 guys and me). My character's already annoying everyone. :)

• Last Monday I went to a Marian Call house concert. She's amazing. She's touring all 50 states, so go find out when she'll be in a city/town near you and go see her. She's a total nerd and cute too. Oh, and she'll be performing at the SDCC w00tstock! There were many nerds there and we all flocked together. Flirted with a guy who works at Blizzard. Hey, anything to get into the Cataclysm beta, right? ;)

• This last Friday was [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith's and my fifth wedding anniversary. Year 5 is the wood anniversary. Don't worry, we already went there. We both took Friday and Monday off from work. Friday we went to Schlitterbaun (which is becoming our anniversary tradition). The rides there really are the best! After riding tons of rides on both sides of the park, we headed back to Austin and went to the Melting Pot for the first time. Very nice. They found out it was our anniversary and brought us complimentary champaign with dessert.

• Saturday night we went to the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Austin's production of "Yeoman of the Guard" with [livejournal.com profile] moonwick and [livejournal.com profile] byskwik. Is a rather interesting opera. Not quite so light and airy as their usual fair and a weird ending.

• The rest of our four day weekend was spend lounging around, getting stuff off of the DVR, playing WoW, and cleaning up the house a bit.

• Work is going well. I'm starting to teach more. I'm developing curriculum for a new feature coming out in our Summer release, which is kind of like shooting a moving target. Oh, and work's sending me to Boston in mid-August to teach four days of classes. The current plan is for [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I to go up together a few days early and see people and then he'll head home while I teach. Let me know if you want to see us.

• Other than that, life is busy with work, husband, cats, yoga, social engagements, friends, and WoW.

Taking a quick break from cleaning to post, since the Sears guy will be here soon.

Tuesday I finished running errands (credit union, gas station, dry cleaners), and then picked up [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith from work. Picked up finished boxes and then drove all the way south to yet another Hobby Lobby where we found the last 4 clasps. yay!

Somehow didn't get caught in too much traffic (I-35 Northbound at 5pm...i was shocked too) and hit up Toy Joy for gifts for family. OMG, why did nobody ever tell me how much fun/insane this place is? I could spend hours/lots of $$ here.

Hung out with FireCat, [livejournal.com profile] lawtalkyguy, and other friends that night. Went to Kerby Lane for food. FireCat is awesome and let me borrow her roll of Enhancer Fashion Tape so my nice (low-cut) dress stays in place on Saturday.

Yesterday was hanging out and starting to clean up the house. Was going to go see Enchanted (yes I want to see it. bite me) with [livejournal.com profile] crowgoddess, but that didn't work out. Went with [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith to production meeting of the play he's working on. Then we hit B&N (where he definitely didn't buy me any books for the holidays...) and Amy's for Ice Cream. Got to love a December where it's 70 in the day time and the night time is just warm enough to sit outside and eat ice cream. :)

Today has been more cleaning for me. Also ran to Post Office to mail presents to in-laws. When I got there I realized that I didn't have sis-in-law's address. One text message of her number to GOOGL later and I had her address. I do love Google, especially for stalking relatives *grin*.

Time for more cleaning. And then the Sears man will come and fix our washer so it will stop leaking water all over the floor (of course the warranty expired in August...). It's just the gasket, so it shouldn't take too long to fix (I hope). Then I can do all the laundry so we have clean clothes to pack for tonight. I actually have a list of everything to get done and everything i need to pack, but it's on paper, not on the internet. doesn't that make you happy?

PS. I got all As again this semester. I win at Information Science!

Friday night [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I were supposed to go to a Haunted House, but we didn't because neither of us were feeling all that well. I watched most of Clueless, which I can quote every line.

Saturday we ran errands, went to the big mall, stopped by campus and ate at Mellow Mushroom, which has a really trippy interior and very good calzones.

Then I did homework and played with Mac Garden. That night Aerith and I went out to a party and met a lot of really cool people and were big dorks and had lots of fun. I was a wood elf and Aerith was Zorro.

Sunday I did more homework (see a theme here). Finished Clueless and started the Italian Job (the new one) while doing more homework - it's mindless OCR fixing, image and TEI prep, so background stuff is good. Then we got all dressed up (this time I was Titania, like last year, and Aerith had the same costume from the night before) and went to [livejournal.com profile] cjovalle, qyandri, and gruff's Halloween party. It was fun, but in a different way. They had movies playing and it was very family oriented, which is cool.

Monday I worked from 8:30-6:30 (I had to make up some hours from last week when I went home sick on Thursday). Also worked on group project while at work. Finished part 2 of 3. We meet tomorrow to finish. Really starting to hate Org & Providing Access to Info!

Aerith made dinner, which was very tasty. Then I watched Heroes (very interesting episode) and...did more work (anyone surprised)?

Today I was supposed to have a meeting with my advisor about classes for next semester, but she broke her elbow and ankle over the weekend (eep), so sent an e-mail yesterday to grad advisor, but still haven't heard back. Getting a little freaked!

So, instead today I got up and did more work. Then got dressed as a corporate vampire - sexy pants, nice business shirt buttoned at the bottom to reveal Evil cami, slightly dark make-up, and my fangs. Paid the rent and headed to school. Teased with the girl at the bagel shop that I shouldn't get a garlic bagel. :)

On the way to SZB, I got accosted by the people handing out flyers on the West Mall. I smiled (to freak them out) and instead was given a flyer for a showing of RHPS :) Was then given a flyer for the Madrigal dinner by people in garb. They even gave me the "nice" flyer because I mentioned my ren wedding. :)

Got to SZB and hung out with friends before class. Both [livejournal.com profile] procris and [livejournal.com profile] queensuzy asked me which clan. To which I immediately responded, "Ventrue Invictus." I had actually started coming up with a character concept on my walk to the building. Started explaining the new system to [livejournal.com profile] queensuzy when a guy dressed up in sort of an old fashioned/Victorian dress asked us if we were talking about Vampire. Hehe. I guess there are more dorks in the iSchool than is visibly apparent.

Class when well. Although neither the prof nor the guest prof were phased by the fangs *pout*. Guest prof was fun. Talked to us about historical research and was very animated.

After class [livejournal.com profile] crabes and I wrote up our research topic proposal and sent it to prof (not due until next week, go us!). Then went and got tickets for Madrigal dinner. Hurray!

Unfortunately the evening sucked. I had traded shifts at work so I could have today off, it being a religious holiday and all. I came home and put up signs so Trick-or-Treaters could find us (we have no porch light of our own and we're sort of hidden in the back of the complex). Only person to come to our door all night was the Chinese food delivery guy. By the time the food came, it was too late to go to the ritual happening tonight or to go to Rocky. Ate food, watched House and did work. Found out we skipped a page in our scanning, so we have to get into the lab and do it tomorrow. I kind of wanted to go out, but [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith didn't and I didn't feel like going out without him (even though I could have gotten into goth club on 6th for free). Talked to [livejournal.com profile] kiten, which was nice. I bet everyone's at Haven right now. I wish I was there. Found out that Rocky Horror Show is playing at Zach Scott, but am too busy and it costs too much to go. *pout*.

Let's see...what's been going on in my life...

Saturday and Sunday involved lots of running around to different stores (all of which are incredibly close) to buy items/food for the house. It also involved eating at the Marie Calender restaurant...fresh baked pie... and finding a place for some good sushi.

The washer and dryer saga )

Monday we got our own internet (so we could stop pirating the neighbours) and went by UT Austin so I could fill out some paperwork for my TAship (fun fun), met with my bosses (one of them is a gamer hehehehe), ate in the Campus Center, and wandered around a bit trying to find the tech director. Then Aerith's car was delivered and there was the aforementioned dryer saga.

Tuesday was the day that we were going to switch over our plates and licenses to Texas ones. The saga of the Texas licenses and plates )

On Tues in-between the car saga stuff (see cut above), we found a really yummy hamburger place called "Phil's Ice House". They let you put cucumbers on your burgers. This makes for one happy Athene!

On our way back towards home from there we found the local gaming store called...Dragon's Lair (does every area have one of these???).

On Wed I had my iSchool orientation. I found another Smithie (who just graduated) who was also a Classics major...so weird. I want to take so many of the classes!!! My advisor is the Asst. Dean and she seems pretty cool. Also had a meeting of the TAs at the lab. The job looks pretty cool. :)

In the evening we finally got to see Pirates:Dead Man's Chest. I liked it. The coolest part was the theatre that we saw it at. It's called the Alamo Drafthouse (there are a number of locations), and it re-defines "dinner & a movie" because they took out every other row of seats and have long tables with menus instead. You write down what you want and servers bring it to you during previews and even during the movie. Near the end of the movie they do a last call and then bring you your check. It's really cool!!! I bet that all the servers get back problems bending down to serve food without disturbing the patron's view of the screen.

On Thurs. I got up extra early and registered for my classes. I got into 3 of the 4 that i wanted and am 4th on the waitlist for the class I really really really want. So I registered for another class, but I'm going to go to the class i'm waitlisted for and hopefully get into it *crosses fingers*.

We ran more errands on Thursday and then went to the [livejournal.com profile] austinpoly dinner. Got to see [livejournal.com profile] apryl_knight and meet other cool people. Lots of talk about Ren fairs :)

Today [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I went by a bunch of theatres in the area and he dropped his resume off on them.

This evening we went to the Dragon's Lair where we ran into... Chris of [livejournal.com profile] spacecrime! It was good to see him :) Also got to meet boss/new gm's wife and their housemate and made friends with some other gamers :) Bought more stuff than we should have, but at 20% off...it was hard to resist.

Got home and got my work schedule. I'll be working two evenings a week and Saturday days...but that's okay. If I get into the class I want, I'll have Wed totally off. If not, I'll have to be at work for 8am for meeting and then I'll have the rest of the day off.

Tomorrow morning our stuff will arrive! Hurray!! The saga of our stuff )

And now, reading the Draconomicon while Aerith goes through Star Munchkin and then sleep.
