Well, in just a few minutes I'll be off to catch the bus to school. For my first grad level class. I'm a little nervous about it...it was the only class without the syllabus already online.

I've gone to work twice so far. There wasn't much to do Monday night, but Tuesday I got to help install software on some newly imaged hard drives. Loads of repetitive fun. And by fun, I mean really dull. But I got to work a bit on my new D&D character for a run that we're going to be in (which starts to night...the character is nowhere NEAR done). Also got to introduce C to the Dresden Dolls, which was cool.

Right, off to catch a bus, buy books, go to class, go to work, and then game :)

At some point we'll continue getting this apartment unpacked/put together.

ahhhhhh. my classes are following me EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

First I take a break from Latin to read some Chris Durang. So, in Nature and Purpose of the Universe the monks come on conjugating amo and the Pope's speach starts with the declention of agricola and the conjugation of sum. And there are quotes in it from Death of a Salesman and Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf.

Then I was taking a break from Latin again, playing Eight Off (a Solitare game) with RENT! on in the background and I start thinking about how the finale of Act One has the conventions of the 19th Century Italian Opera (well...it IS based on La Boheme, but still!).

My classes are taking over my life. It's soooo scary. Well...back to Aeneas and Dido.

I love it when all of my classes manage to tie themselves together. Sometimes it's a pain, but right now it's funny.

Right now everything is linking though my History of Opera class. First in my American Theatre and Drama class we were talking about the formation of comerical acting troupes. Guess what we are talked about in Opera? Comerical opera troups when Opera Houses started opening up. And, in my Latin class we are reading books I and IV of the Aeneid. I just had to listen to an opera for class called Dido and Aeneas (in english actually) that is based (very loosely in parts) on Book IV. Hehe. Life is weird. I think as long as I don't have to listen to an opera based on Uncle Tom's Cabin and sung in latin, I won't go crazy :)

Well, I've now had all of the academic classes that I am going to have for the first half of the semester.

The Aeneid - Looks like work, but fun cause Latin is cool. Prof Ryan seems like she will be a hard ass, but that's good b/c Latin is picky. I'm glad that I just remember my latin right now and don't think it's Greek.

American Drama and Theatre - I forgot how much I just LOVE Kiki! She's so cute. Much bigger class than the last one I took with her. Should be good. Reading some new stuff and some stuff that I've had to read over and over and over again. At least I'll know those.

History of Opera - Seems like it's going to be fun. I'm a little worried that I don't know ALL the technical terms of music, but that's ok. Will be a decent amount of work, lots of listening to Opera, but I have to keep reminding myself that I'm taking it pass/fail.

As for riding, I'm not sure when the meeting is yet. And my web design class doesn't start until the second half of the semester. Catling is in the first and second half. She says that the prof is cool. I'm glad.

So far this semester looks really cool. I'm excited about it. Even though the fact that it's my last one really scares me.

weekend

First: The Samhain ritual went amazingly well!!! There were a LOT of people there and I think they all got something out of it. I know that I did. When I was Justice, I WAS Justice. There wasn't enough cider at the feast. there never is :) The walk through NoHo was wonderful, but sad as I realized that this may just be the last Smith Samhain ritual that I am involved in. But walking back from the beep-boop crossroads in the front of the whole group singing my heart out was just wonderful. When we got back to Tyler, there was still a TON of energy left in the room. It made my whole body tingle!!!

Then my sister came to stay for the weekend!! She got to see my room and my cat and meet some of my friends at the game and stuff. It made me happy. Yes, cimmy, I am worried about you. I love you! We had a bunch of good heart to hearts.

Then Aerith's D&D game went really well. Slinky-boy couldn't make it, but everyone else was there. I am soclose to becoming a fifth level cleric. We killed the evil elven mage and got inducted into the elven nation. A very good game. I am having so much fun playing it. Even if Aerith is trying to screw us over twelve ways from sunday.

That night...well...lets just say that sometimes it IS good dating the DM *evil grin*

Sunday we watched Krull. Why, oh god, why??? Then Cimmy left and I got some work done while Aerith was at the gym.

This morning i have to go meet with the head of the Classics Department about the webpage and about classes for next semester. So far this is what I am thinking of taking: Latin - The Aenead, American Theatre and Drama, Interactive Web Design (2 credits), Horseback Riding 2, and History of Opera (pass/fail). Yup, that sounds good to me. a nice 15 credits for second semester senior year.
