athene: (hi how are you)
Today [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I went out to check out the East Austin Studio Tour. It was really neat to see some of the work that he and the guys that he works with work on. We also saw some amazing stone sculptures and lots of other nifty art.

Then we went on a Segway tour of East Austin/Lady Bird Lake, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith's mother. I didn't fall on my ass at all! I did end up dropping one foot off during the free-ride field riding part, but it wasn't that bad. Once I got the hang of it, it was a lot of fun. It was really cool to ride by the park and the lake and then to ride around the streets of east Austin. It was interesting to see the new modern architecture amidst the old buildings. We took pictures of us on the Segways, but in every one I'm making this weird "I'm trying to keep this thing still" smile, so I'm not going to post them here.

After that we went to hang out with the artists of the July Transplants at their instillation at a vacant lot. It was pretty cool, but we were really tired from our day and were getting hungry so we left before it really got started and got dinner.

Wheeee

Wow, it's been a couple of crazy busy days for us.

On Thursday we went to Shinma's birthday party at Elysium. There were lots of cool people there, and I really started to feel like "part of the group." Had a good time talking with people and being at the club. Unfortunately they played mostly electronic/techno stuff, even though Allycat and I went up to the DJ booth and requested "swirly gothy stuff."

On Friday there was an "Art Party" at Allycat's place. We got there a little late (due to me taking a 3 hour nap upon getting home), but still got to hang out with people. Played some Bust-A-Movie and Guitar Hero. Talked about also sorts of various things. Felt really good. Like we were finally part of a group. And it's a group that likes us, understands our references, and basically talks the same language as we do.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith stayed home, but I went to AC&B J's place for bbq and swimming with peoples. Just hanging out with people was lots of fun. The bbq was good. I traded some of my two zucchinis for parts of other people's steaks, which worked out really well. Once they convinced me to get in the water, we had a lot of silly fun. After swimming there was pie (mmm...pie), and hanging out at the apartment and then ACJ decided to put on Clueless. The two of us proceeded to quote the whole thing...hehehe.

There was talk of going to a movie or hanging out at [livejournal.com profile] drackyyn's place...but I may just stay home.

Tomorrow is [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and my two year. If the weather's good, we're hoping to go to Schlitterbahn to celebrate.

Just got a poster of Magritte's Empire of Light I. Then I was looking at my postcards and realized that I really like his Empire of Light II better. Oh well. I'll put it underneith the large poster so i have both of them. Now I can finish decorating my room. I hope I have enough Sticky Tac, somehow I don't think I do. Oh dear. well, we'll seee. And I keep breaking the push-pins. Just goes to show that i suck at using a hammer.

Damn I love Magritte's art work!!! he's the coolest!!!
