Am currently sitting outside of a courtroom at the courthouse. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have been called in for jury duty.
I'm actually excited about this (and a little nervous). I was thinking this morning about it. At first I was hoping that I wouldn't be called. Then I realized that in some ways this is actually a sacred, as well as civic, duty for me. I have concidered the goddess Athene my patron goddess in many ways for a long time. I even use her name as my own at times (this LJ is a good example of that). Therefore, to take part in the justice system is, in a way, honoring my goddess.
Oh, just found out that they won't be needing our services. My boss already said if we get out early to take the rest of the day. Time to go home and prep for people coming over for dinner tonight.

Date: 2008-12-05 08:11 am (UTC)I can see what you mean about it being a way of honoring your goddess, though. Considering my patron deity is Justice, it would be a very eloquent way of honoring her. Ah well, will just have to become a judge instead :) I'm sorry you didn't get chosen, sometimes jury duty is really interesting. Then again, much of the time it's a lot of boring legalese you're not meant to understand anyway.
