Superbowl and commercials
Feb. 1st, 2009 10:13 pmJust like several years ago I watched the Superbowl with my laptop and recorded the different types of commercials. This year I know I got them all, thanks to the wonders of DVR. I used a single, subjective classification system, meaning if an ad fit two categories (ie: vote for the game's MVP on NFL.com), I would pick the category that I thought it best fit into and not mark the other category. I started recording from Faith Hill singing the "Yay it's the Superbowl" song and ended when the game ended.
IMHO, the best commercials (in no specific order) were:
| Channel Promotion/TV Show | 17 |
| Car | 12 |
| Internet | 11 |
| Movie Trailer | 11 |
| Beer | 8 |
| Sports | 7 |
| Fast Food | 6 |
| Soda | 6 |
| Electronics | 3 |
| other | 3 |
| Snacks | 3 |
| Tourism/Travel | 3 |
| Cell Phones | 2 |
| Non-profit | 2 |
| Drinks (non-soda) | 2 |
| Local Station | 2 |
| Restaurant | 2 |
| Energy | 2 |
| Insurance | 1 |
| Investments | 1 |
| Pets | 1 |
| Self employment | 1 |
| Taxes | 1 |
IMHO, the best commercials (in no specific order) were:
- Hulu: Alec and Huluwood
- CareerBuilder.com: Tips
- Coke: Heist
- Doritos: Power of the Crunch
- GE: Scarecrow
- NBC: Heroes Football
- NFL: Super Ad, Usama Young - aww yeah, we got the Saints in the Superbowl...ok, it was only in an ad and we have snoballs...not snowcones!
