For everyone following this blog, I finally did something with the main page of my website. It's now a blog for our whole family (why yes, another blog...). This way I don't have to figure out the best blog to put family oriented posts on. I'll probably still write on this one from time to time, but my guess is that it will be friends locked posts only. I'll probably also write in the Little Prince and the Young Sir blog if I have something specific to share about an individual child. I also have it feeding in my nerdfamily tumblr posts, and I post there a lot more often that I write blog posts. So if you want to follow my writtings, head over there. You can subscribe to email notifiations or use the RSS feed if that makes things easier for you.

There's so much that i want to post about, both here and on my Little Prince blog. I feel like I'm always composing posts in my head. But so many of them never get written. Some of it is time. Between working full-time, raising a toddler, spending time with hubby, working on other projects, reading, etc, I just don't have lots of time to write.

But there's also something more. When it comes to the internet I tend to be a consumer first and a creator second. What I mean is that when I sit at my computer for downtime, the first thing I do is read other people's things. It was easy when it was just LiveJournal friends list (although back then a lot more people were posting). Now there's the friends list, facebook, tumblr, email, my rss feed reader, etc. I pretty much ignore twitter (sometimes), pintrest, instagram, and Google+ because you have to draw the line somewhere. But by the time I'm done reading it all, there isn't much time left for me to post stuff. Or I want to do something for the post first, like edit pictures or video, which takes time. I guess that's why I like FB, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. Because you can post quick free form things that aren't as fully "bloggy" and keep consuming. I mean I could do that here too, but it's harder.

I have to remember to sit down and create first or I just get lost in the world of consuming.

Well, time to feed the cats, scoop litter boxes, play with Little Prince in his bath, and get him to sleep. Maybe I'll do some more creating tonight before I consume...

Am worried paper is like a mix tape. The kind where you've chosen all of your songs beforehand and at first it's easy to fit them all in an arrangement that flows naturally from one song to the other, but near the end of Side B you only have a few random songs left and so you try to put them together as best they can but they never quite match up as well as the songs on Side A.

Finished first draft of Electronic Records paper. 27.5 pages + 4 charts . 9105 words, not counting charts. Needs major editing. Will do that tomorrow. Sleep now.

Also, backed up paper in accordance with management plan as outlined in paper. how meta of me.

why oh why can't i get this paper written?

I've been thinking about it for weeks. I've spent many hours looking through files, analyzing things, making charts, and preparing for this. I've written a number of pre-writing question answering lists. But it won't come together in a coherent way.

I guess it comes down to how I usually write papers: read everything/do all research, come up with an outline, write paper, revise paper. The problem with this paper is that there really isn't a good outline that I can come up with. I think the best solution is just to start writing and reorganize everything later. Not my favorite idea, but it'll get the job done.

Right, off to start writing. And, of course, this post just adds one more file to think about...
