athene: (Dr. Horrible Boogie)
Mom and [livejournal.com profile] queencimmy came to visit for Thanksgiving. They showed up Tuesday night and I had Wednesday off from work, so I could spend all day with them. The three of us went shopping at Ikea and the Round Rock Outlet Mall (because mom had never been to Ikea and because we all love outlet shopping). I made dinner on Wednesday night which turned out well. :)

On Thanksgiving morning, we started watching the parade, but had to pause it to prep dinner. I made a pie, which set off the smoke detectors because of the grease on the bottom of the stove. I had to make a last minute trip to the store for more butter (because I didn't get enough when I went to Central Market last Sunday to buy everything). Around 4, Cimmy and I drove downtown to pick up Pirate Wench who was in town as the guardian for one of the children in the touring cast of 101 Dalmatians. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious, even with Aerith's cranberry melt. After dinner we played Apples to Apples, which was very interesting to play with a 12 year old girl.

Yesterday I went out with mom to do a little shopping. Then Cimmy and I finally finished the Macy's Day Parade. Then I made dinner, which turned out well and afterwards we played a little bit of the Apples to Apples Jewish Edition that I bought for mom. I think my favorite was in the last round when Aerith was judging "neglected" and I played "My Jewish Education".

We headed downtown to the Drafthouse to see Horrible Turn, a fan made prequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. Ran into [livejournal.com profile] emeraldliz and her people. It was fun to see it, especially with some of the cast and crew there.

Mom and Cimmy left this morning, so now is chill time (aka watching bad tv) before heading back to work on Monday.

While playing around on ColorWars 2008, I found this video about the broom game.

Untitled from colorwars on Vimeo.

Upon showing to my coworker, we both decided to try to play the game.

My co-worker, who is apparently very good at this game:

Me. I'm not so good at this game. And, I almost run into someone else...

This weekend [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I worked on the math materials boxes he's building for [livejournal.com profile] msfrizz's school. I sanded and painted finish on them. Nothing like finishing up the semester with 2 full days on your feet breathing sawdust and finish...but the boxes are all done, and that's what's important.

After we stopped working on Sunday I accompanied Aerith to his game. Got to see [livejournal.com profile] raenshadoe, [livejournal.com profile] last_bastion, noeticist, and meet some new people. I ended up crashing on the couch while they all fought a vampire.

On Monday I had my last day of work. It was nice and chill.

Last night we picked up [livejournal.com profile] crabes and headed out to noeticist's house for a Rock Band party. Oh, so much fun. I'm getting much better on the drums. I don't fail out now at all (on Easy). And [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith even sang a few songs (including Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld).

Today has been running errands day. Went to the Post Office, the Drug Store, and 3 different Hobby Lobbies looking for the clasps for the boxes. We now only need 4 more and I feel really good about how well I did driving on obscure roads so I could avoid the toll roads.

Well, off to run more errands and pick up [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith from work.

Falling over and going boom will have to happen later.
