I don't think that Cowboy Mouth will be playing Home anymore. It was written by Paul Sanchez who broke from the group about a year and a half after Katrina. I have heard him sing it since his departure. The first time I heard/saw "The Avenue" was on Mardi Gras Day 2006 on the Ellen DeGeneres show while sitting in Linda and Robert Kocher's living room. There wasn't a dry eye by the end of the song. Took the song and taught it to our second/third graders who sang it our school's Springfest that year. Tears flowed on the blacktop at Audubon that day. The most heartwrenching performance of Cowboy Mouth was at the 2006 Lafayette Square performance. Mostly New Orleanians packed shoulder to shoulder jumping up and down, screaming with every fiber of their being even though it was over 80 degrees and muggy; tears rolling down faces, and smiles claiming New Orleans was back. After the performance, most of the audience sounded as if they had strep throat. What a night! Thanks for the info about the CAC. It is my Ladies Night and I just might suggest a trip down there. Mom who is now cooking again in New Orleans. Can't wait for your visit.
