May in review

So, while [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith is playing PS2 games I'm going to try to recap all of May.

May was really busy, so I didn't have a chance to write nearly as much as I wanted to. I hope that I'm going to remember everything that I want to say.

May started off with Beltane and Drum and Dance.

Being that we're moving to Texas in August, it was my last drum and dance. I got there and was really dancing and getting into the music. Then I saw an old acquaintance and it threw me off. I really had a hard time getting back into the music after that. So I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] asciikitty and others. Did the quiet chanting after circle. That was really good for me, but I couldn't get back into it. Finally, near the end of the night, I noticed that the door at the back of the drumming room was open. I went outside and was able to dance again, with the earth under my feet and the stars overhead. I realized my problem is that I have trouble dancing when the space gets too crowded, because I need to move around a lot without worrying about bumping into other people. I danced outside for a while. Then, somehow, I ended up in child's pose just crying uncontrollably. I believe it was due to the uncertainty and fear about moving. It was amazing just to be able to be in a space where I could release all of that. Afterwards I was able to say goodbye. After D&D I went over to InSpirit Common and hung out with the peoples there. Then I went home to my lady. :)

The next day was the Enterprise Car Sales Event at work. Aerith and I went over and checked out the tale end of it. Then he got to drive my boss's boss's BMW Z3 roadster. I've never even gotten to ride in it. Lucky bastard.

Then when we got home I baked cookies and we got ready to head out to the middle of nowhere MA for [livejournal.com profile] msbutterpecan and [livejournal.com profile] honor_knight's child's baby blessing and Beltane ritual. I was worried we were going to be late as the thing said it started at 5. Of course due to PUT (Pagan Unstandard Time) nothing started till 6. Aerith didn't join in the ritual. At first i was upset about this, espcially when I saw all these other couples standing around the circle. However, then I saw that [livejournal.com profile] autumnlaughing was without her Pax, so somehow that made me feel better. Peeper was fully blessed by the community, which was nice :). Then we did a spiral dance. It was strange, but as we moved around, my feet naturally started doing that jewish cross-over move. I still hold so much of my heritage in my heart and my body. The spiral moved outside the circle and headed towards the cliff overhang where Aerith and Pax were sitting. I swear, they bounded away like two young stags spooked by a hunter. It was kind of funny. After that the "male-energy" people went off to get the pole and we "female-energy" people stayed at the hole and set up the ribbons for the Maypole dance. Somehow I ended up with 5-year old Squeaker. She was so cute. I picked her up and while we were holding our purple ribbon we had a conversation like this:
Squeaker: Where are the men?
Me: They went off to get the pole.
S: Okay. Why did the men go get the pole?
M: Um, because it's the man's job to get the pole. Just like it's our job to stay here with the ribbons.
S: Why is it the man's job to get the pole?
M: You know, why don't you ask your mom later.
S: Okay. Why are the ribbons different colored?
M: Well, different people like different colors. I like purple.
S: Me too.
M: But some people like other colors, like orange.
S: 4 people like orange.

Got to love the mind of a child.

After ritual we hung out for a good long while and talked and ate and sang by the fire. It was still going on long into the night.

On May 10 I met up with [livejournal.com profile] modernaphrodite and [livejournal.com profile] muninwing to see really bad girly gymnastics movie. Ran into [livejournal.com profile] honor_knight while I was waiting for them. Convinced him to come see the movie with us. I think that I liked the movie more than bad girly fairy-tale movie but less than bad girly runs to england movie and bad girly cheerleader movie. It's probably on par with bad girly ice skater movie. I really did like what the gymnasts did a the meet and I think that I got my money's worth from the lay-over of everyone's routines while they were each in different colors bit that they did during the in gym competition. [livejournal.com profile] safirerings, I really missed you!

The next week aerith and i went to Svaroopa Yoga class at InSpirit Common, which I already wrote about. We have since bought a 10 class pass each and have gone twice more. It's been really good for both of us.

On the weekend of the 20th, Aerith and I headed down to the DC area. I wrote a backdated post to cover that trip. There are pictures, so you should go look at it :)

When we got home from DC, [livejournal.com profile] artemis42 and [livejournal.com profile] daobear were there. We started to watch Kiss Me Kate when the power went out (even though the storm had passed...I found out later that something knocked out a power line somewhere very close by). So we played the Mad Magazine Board Game, which is like backwards Monopoly. My mom called part way through the game, so the other's played without me. Then I taught [livejournal.com profile] daobear how to play Quarto by candle light, which was really cool. At one point the lights came back on, flickered and then turned off again. A little while later they finally came back on and we finished the movie.

The last weekend in May [livejournal.com profile] pyramus came to visit. We hung out with him for most of the weekend, which was fun. Got to grill salmon on Saturday. mmm. Also I finally ate at Paul and Elizabeth's in town. It was very good. The three of us went to see X-3. It was umm..ok. This says a lot of what I felt. Introduced pyramus to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Such a fun show.

On Monday we headed down to [livejournal.com profile] kiten and [livejournal.com profile] doctorjekyll's for a bbq. Aerith and I had bought a bison steak from Whole Foods. We let it marinate for a good 2-3 hours. It was so good! Also had lots of other food and got to see people and try to spin fuzzy poi (i kept hitting myself).

Other things that happen throughout the month...umm...we got to barbecue a bunch. I told my boss that I'm leaving in August (but I haven't given official notice yet) and started apartment searching in Austin. Oh, and Lost. We watched Lost. Lots of it. As in finished season 1 and got most of the way through season 2. We would have finished season 2 THIS weekend, if episode 2-21 was actually 2-21 and not 1-1.
