fuckin' hell!

What a wonderful fucking way to start the day.

Got an e-mail in my inbox saying that all my log-in stuff will expire at the end of the month.  Then about an hour and a half later my super comes up to me and confirms that my assignment is over in two weeks.  I SO did not need this.  I was really hoping that this assignment would last until at least christmas time.

Well, it's fitting i guess.  i started this assignment on the first day of my period in January and I find out that it's over in two weeks on the first day of my period in October.

Thus i have spent some of my morning looking for/applying for jobs.

This whole thing just sucks!!!  I have a college degree.  why can't i find a perminant job?????

But...the Frenchman is on his way home this morning. He made use of our futon last night. Does that maybe give you a little smile?

the really shitty thing is that i DID have a perminant job right out of college (well, a few months after...but basically right after i got a car). and it was nice. and i liked it (mostly). and it paid pretty well. and then the economy went to shit and they had to downsize and i lost the job (along with 350 others).

I feel your pain. I was a freelancer my first five years out of college. Then I got and was laid off from three full-time jobs in a row. Now I'm having issues finding anything. Sucks! Hang in there.

What's your degree in?

Classical Studies. Yeah, i know. i have the ability to say "would you like fries with that?" in two ancient dead languages.

but in terms of job stuff, i've done TONS of computer/tech support and customer service.

Check www.detma.org... It's not spammy like dice.com or monster.com and it has a decent set of IT-related jobs, such as the one I have now. It's something to check every couple days or so, and there's a good chunk of competition, but who knows, you might luck out...

I dig

YOu can't find a job for the same reason that I have been working for less than the janitorial staff make at UMass, even though I have a Master's..because the economy sucks and if you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you are getting trounced on...:(

im sorry to hear the assignment's over. :( and i had a hard time finding permanent work after undergrad, too. the depressing thing is that depending on your field, even grad school only marginally improves your chances. the economy just sucks that badly. with your tech support experience, tho, im sure you'll find something else soon.
