Ten years ago [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I got married. In the typical way of me with big events, I never got around to writing more than a quick note about it after the fact. And now all the pictures that I linked to don't even work anymore.

Of course one day we may actually order prints of the official pictures and maybe even go on a honeymoon. Maybe for 15 years when LP and Bae are older.

A little while ago I got an email from the front desk that I had a special delivery. Look what Aerith sent me! I've already eaten the whole top layer.

I believe the plan tonight is to order Chinese food. We'll go out to dinner as a family to celebrate on Saturday night.

We went to our local Faire yesterday for our friend’s vow renewal ceremony. Little Prince fits much better into the outfit that Zee made for him last year (and we still have to pin it a bit, since she cut the necks HUGE). The day turned out to be cold and rainy, but we still had a great time. Maybe it was because the crowds were smaller or maybe because we were out so much last year that we’ve started to recognize and be recognized by the regulars, but we had way more interactions with cast and others this year than in previous years. Or maybe it was just how cute LP is. Two different gypsies asked me his price (he’s much too young to sell to them yet) and I had to keep a close eye on him when the fae were around so they wouldn’t steal him away.

The vow renewal ceremony went well. Afterwards we went to the Fest Hall for a feast. The food was good and the company was delightful. There was a little girl there, T, who had just turned 3. She and LP were running around chasing each other, and then her shoe fell off. I caught what happened on video.

Why yes, we’ve been watching a lot of Cinderella at our house lately, how did you know?

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I celebrated seven years of marriage without killing each other. Hurray!

We went out to The Cheesecake Factory as a family to celebrate. Our Little Prince kept us entertained throughout a good chunk of the meal by playing "dip the straw into the mug of water, pull it out, causing splashing, dunk it back in, and occasionally try to drink from the straw" all while squealing with happiness most of the time. My cheeks hurt after dinner from smiling so much. Didn't get any pics or video because we wanted to be in the moment.

Today Aerith and I both took the day off from work. I took LP into daycare so we had the whole day to just the two of us. We were originally going to go to Shilterbaun or to Barton Springs or something, but the day looked rather ominous for being outside, and so we ended up spending most of the day cuddling on the couch watching stuff that had piled up on our DVR (lots of HIMYM). I think it was a day that we really needed. Just a day to cuddle and reconnect and be lazy together. Ok, at one point I got annoyed that we were staying inside and that I wanted to go swimming... and then we started to hear the rolling thunder, so well played Universe.

Then we got LP from daycare, had stir-fry for dinner, played with LP, gave him a bath, put him to bed, and watched more HIMYM while finishing our desserts from yesterday.

And now, to bed.

Over the weekend, [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I traveled to DC for my eldest cousin's wedding. Met up with [livejournal.com profile] queencimmy at the airport and her GPS took us by a house with a large Longhorn flag in front of it. Can't seem to get away from Texas. Picked up mom late that night. On Saturday met up with [livejournal.com profile] alysonwonderlan and [livejournal.com profile] darktouch and finally got to meet their Little Guy. Went to pre-wedding dinner that night. Sunday was the wedding and the reception which were very nice. Sunday night went out to dinner with family and Monday morning there was breakfast at Aunt and Uncle's. Didn't get time to do tourist stuff, but got to spend lots of time with family, which was good as I don't get to do that nearly often enough.

Yesterday, after I went to see GI Joe with my team from work, [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I went to Ikea and picked up couches for our new place. Hurray for new couches so we don't have to move our old crappy falling apart ones. Got some paper sorting done before bed last night.

Still have tons of packing and moving to do. The next few nights will be completely mostly devoted to that. Saturday is moving day. Sunday is cleaning old place day. Gah!!!
athene: (senior)
I am sitting in a hotel in Northampton while my loves are cuddling in the bed (lazy bones!) so I figured it'd be a good time to write a post.

[livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I finally got to our hotel on Cape Cod at 1:30am Saturday morning. We passed out until mid-morning. Once we got up we went in search of breakfast and found it at Bagels & Beyond. This place makes their bagels fresh every morning and has really good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. So good, in fact, that we got breakfast there all three mornings that we were on the Cape.

After breakfast we drove around West Yarmouth and met up briefly with [livejournal.com profile] rogueactor, who was grabbing a bite to eat in the middle of helping Wyldblade and TheatreChick with their wedding preparations. Then we had the hunt for a wedding card for those two, which ended successfully at the mall in South Yarmouth.

Eventually it was time to get ready for the wedding. They were going to have it on the beach, but since it was drizzling on and off all day, they eventually decided to have the ceremony in doors at the reception hall. The wedding started a little bit late because some people still ended up going to the beach. It was a lovely ceremony. The dress was casual (I think the groom was the most casually dressed person there). [livejournal.com profile] wabres officiated (got to love a state where anyone can be a JP for a day). The bride's vows were lovely and touching. She was almost crying. Most of the bridesmaids were crying. I think the groom was almost crying too.

After the reception was lots of fun. There was a punch room with 11 different types of punch, all with fun names, a games room, and lots of yummy food made by the families of the bride and groom. I ended up playing Apples to Apples with some of the bridesmaids and a bunch of other guests for a good part of the night. It was a perfect representation of Wyldblade and TheatreChich and a really really good party!

Pictures from [livejournal.com profile] wabres (because I forgot to bring my camera):Sunday [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I drove up to Provincetown to check it out. We ended up at The Wired Puppy for a few hours so I could get some work done (yes, I had work to get done on my vacation...long story...). Finally the rain cleared up at we got to walk around, see the sites, and check out the shops. I think that [livejournal.com profile] safirerings summed it up better than I could have done.

We drove back from P-town the long way and then went to The Yarmouth House for dinner. It was a really good dinner. [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith had the Surf&Turf and the Tuxedo cake for dessert and I had crab stuffed salmon and this apple caramel cake thing for dessert. After dinner we wanted to go play mini-golf at Pirate's Cove, but they closed just before we got there.

Yesterday we left the Cape and drove to Connecticut to pick up [livejournal.com profile] artemis42. It was really really amazing to see her again. I finally got to see her comic book shop, where the walls are truely made of awesome.

The three of us drove up to Northampton, checked into our hotel, and then drove over to Amherst for D.P. Dough. After eating we headed over to [livejournal.com profile] msbutterpecan's to see her and the kiddos. OMG! They've all grown so much, it's really amazing. Foof jumped about 3 feet off of the ground when she saw me. :) After hanging out with them for a while, we headed back to Northampton for ice cream at Herrells with [livejournal.com profile] kjpepper, [livejournal.com profile] sundart, and [livejournal.com profile] lostcircuit. It was awesome to see Ms KJ and Sunny again and to meet LC. After ice cream, [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith, [livejournal.com profile] artemis42, [livejournal.com profile] kjpepper, and I walked up towards Smith. When we were in front of East Heaven Hot Tubs, Aerith said that we better go in because we had an appointment for a roof tub in 10 minutes. Surprise Hot Tubbing!! He's amazingly sweet. So we said good-bye to Ms KJ and the three of us had a really wonderful and amazing time in a hot tub under the moon and stars.

Not really sure what today's plans are, but I know they'll involve seeing [livejournal.com profile] kiten and possibly [livejournal.com profile] reverendtom and going to Haven tonight. Yay!

Everyone needs to check out the sidebar of Punch an' Pie today before midnight PST.

Also, if you can stand it, check out the link in the news post at the bottom of the comic...

In honor of our two year anniversary tomorrow, I decided to finally upload some pictures from our wedding.
Wedding

Pictures are from our camera, [livejournal.com profile] alysonwonderlan's camera, the Mad Russian's camera, and the disposable cameras that were on the tables at the reception. I tried to put them in chronological order. I think I got the ceremony and social hour worked out, but there were a lot of shots from the reception, so it was a lot harder to do.

I'm currently working on a redesign of the wedding website, but I have to improve my CSS and learn some PHP before it goes live.

Maybe one day we'll even order some official pictures from the proof book...
athene: (matt barth)
I had a dream this morning, I don't remember all of it, but there were some of us in a classroom somewhere and then we had to run away from someone (we did something bad or she wanted to do something bad to us) and I was driving the car and then it was New Orleans and then I went to turn left down a street and there was a Mardi Gras parade. We were trying to turn in between or before a float or something when all of a sudden I couldn't turn left or turn my head left because my arm was going numb. Then I woke up and my arm from the shoulder down had fallen asleep and was tingly.

Today [livejournal.com profile] pyramus and [livejournal.com profile] starrfade got married. We couldn't be there, but I made sure to wear my "Matt Barth Sucks" tee-shirt in honor of him.

My mother-in-law (MIL) has been in town since Tuesday (she flew back with us). She's saying at a nearby hotel (thank goddess).

On Wed. we drove her around Austin, showing her Lake Travis, some of the campus, a bit of the downtown and Whole Food World (where we had lunch). That night we went to Threadgill's, so she could experience some real "southern" cooking. Mmm...Chicken Fried Steak and garlic cheese grits! Then we went down by the river to wait for the bats. Unfortunately not enough came out to do a full sweeping thing (like I've seen them do), but it was still really cool.

Thursday we were going to go to the Alamo, but we got started late and decided to go to Hamilton Pool instead. MIL went in the water and had a fun time swimming around. [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I thought the water was too cold, so we didn't go in. Instead we went behind the waterfall and took lots of pictures. Afterwards we came home and I made dinner for everyone. We showed MIL Ninja Warrior.

Friday Aerith had to work early. Then he came home and started dinner while I took MIL out to see UT's campus. Who's brilliant idea was it to run reduced shuttle service during graduation weekend??? MIL did not have on walking shoes so showing her around was somewhat of a trial. But I think that she liked what she saw. Showed her the fountain by the theatre building, the Drag, the HRC, and the iSchool building. While I was there I picked up my paper from DL class. Came home, had dinner, showed MIL our wedding photos, and then Aerith drove her home.

Today I wasn't feeling well so I was bad and slept in late and didn't call MIL until an hour or so ago. She was having fun just "resting in [her] little room." Which is fine by me. I think we all needed a rest day.

Here are the pictures from my sister-in-law's wedding. I still haven't gotten to the ones from the pot-luck or Hamilton Pool.

Aerith and I will be up in MA for his sister's wedding from Friday evening until Tuesday morning (that's the 11-15).

Although this is a short visit (and involves family obligations on Friday and Saturday), we would love to see those of y'all that live up that way.

We already have Sunday morning mother's day plans, but we're hoping to see people who live in Eastern Mass on Sunday night (contact [livejournal.com profile] wabres for details).

We're planning on taking a day trip out to Western MA on Monday and would love to see Western MA people during that time (but we can't stay too late b/c we have to drive back to the Eastern side to catch our flight on Tuesday morning). Leave a message if you want to see us ([livejournal.com profile] omnia_mutantur and [livejournal.com profile] wandelrust, I'm looking at you).

Got back from New Orleans a little while ago. The trip didn't actually take that long. About 7.5-8 hours. We stopped in the same place to get gas on the way back as on the way there (totally unplanned).

We went out to Deanies when we got in on Friday night. It's right by the lake. Afterwards we drove around the area a bit. Saw a house that had been torn off a foundation and the only reason that it was anywhere near it's original place was because it had run into a tree.

Saturday morning it was really weird to wake up in my old bed, think about how I wanted to traipse downstairs, get a bowl of cereal and watch tv on the couch, and then realize that there was no bowls, cereal, tv or couch downstairs and that I needed to put on my shoes before going down because the downstairs is completely under construction.

Had lunch at Domilise's (mmmm...roast beef po-boy dressed!). Drove around a bit and saw a bit more of what the city looked like (still, this was in the nicer parts that didn't get lots of water).

Came home and got ready for Sneaky's wedding. It was a Quaker Wedding, which I was a little bit worried about. An hour of silence?? but actually, it turned out to be one of the more beautiful ceremonies that I've been to. Sneaky and her fiance sat in the center of the room and after a while of silence, people started speaking, mostly giving thanks to be there and stories of the two of them and their love for each other. I was the only one who spoke for Sneaky who knew her before her work with "The Firm" as they all call it. What was interesting was that once people started speaking about the couple, everyone started to speak. It played onto the whole "humans have major issues with silence" thing. After about an hour, the couple stood up together, said their vows and exchanged rings. Then his step-father said this really amazingly profound and powerful thing. He talked about how when a couple is joined, it's as if time slows down and all the couples who have ever married and all the couples who will ever marry are in the space, sharing the experience with them. Both [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I could feel his power and the spirits in the room. It was amazing. A few minutes later, everyone shook hands and the meeting was over. Then we all signed the marriage contract.

Then there was a reception with food and drinks. I got to see some people that i knew in high school, which was weird. Also met another theatre techy person who Sneaky was friends with in college. We bonded very quickly (having worked with some of the same theatre people). There was a jazz trio playing and there was dancing. And a second line that turned into Hava Nagila. We were going to go with everyone to the afterparty at some bar, but when we stopped by mom's house, we realized we were really tired and it was kind of chilly out, so we stayed in.

Today we got up and went out to Oak Street Cafe. They were out of pancakes (*pout*), but still, so yummy. And there was a guy playing the piano and one playing the bass and this woman, who I guess they knew, came up and started to sing with them. They played/sang "Summertime" and the whole place clapped when they were done. It's those little things that make New Orleans New Orleans. :)

After that we hit the road, and now Aerith's playing Freebird on Guitar Hero II (the game asked him about 5 times if he really wanted to play it *grin*).

    argh!!!!

Today has just been a "piss [livejournal.com profile] athene off day!"

First of all, the printer I work with at work has been screwing shit up left and right. I was going to let a few of the small things go, but when a proof was gone over about 6 times so that things would face the right way, and then they don't...it was the last straw. I wrote a very polite "this is everything that's wrong" e-mail and immediately got a "oh, we'll fix it all" one back, but still.

Second, after my wedding when people were cleaning up, there was a box of some of the centerpieces items (like the castle placeholders and candles) that got left there because it was hidden under a table. So when i found this out I e-mailed and was told that they had it. Of course then Katrina happened and my world went crazy. So, in November we try to go visit the place and get the box. We find out that the owner has got a new restaurant in Shelburne Falls. We go visit, have yummy soup, and are told that they'll bring the box with them to the new place. Then I start the grad school application process and all of a sudden we're moving in two weeks, so maybe I should try to find that stuff. Call new place, but am told that they didn't take it from old place. Call old place. get a total brush off. call again, get another brush off. call again and say that i can come up and get it. get called back and told that no-one has seen it and they're under new management so it's probably gone. FUCK!! I bet that it's not gone and if i went up there i could find it and they're way too lazy to look in the EXACT spot that I think it is in (because old management told me that's where it was). But maybe it is gone. And i've looked online and they're not selling some of that stuff anymore. but more to the point I already paid for the stuff and i don't want to have to buy it again. I feel like it's my fault for waiting way to long, but then again, maybe it isn't because maybe they're just lazy, but i don't want to risk it, but i want my stuff. who'd throw out wedding stuff???

So far this weekend I have:
Gone to Easthampton to rent a carpet cleaner, packed boxes, cleaned the kitchen

helped with carpet cleaning, gone to [livejournal.com profile] deravyn and his ~l's wedding, got a sunburn on my back at said wedding, went back to Easthampton to return carpet cleaner, went to the NoHo sidewalk sale, napped, ate pasta, worked on my website,

made eggs for breakfast (as there was no cereal I wanted in the house), did laundry, watched part of "Who wants to be a superhero", went back to the sidewalk sale to give the Tapestry people some info on menstrual cups, ate lunch at Hayfields (because Moshi Moshi was closed), did the grocery shopping, used the interweb to set up electric account in Austin, packed more and more boxes, and moved furniture around.

Now it is time to have some ice cream. and look at photoshop phriday.
    athene: (wedding kiss)
    Just a quick update...

Got back from Austin just fine. Am glad I got to meet new people at poly meet-up *waves to new LJ friends*. Hurray for knowing there are crazy people like me in Texas *G*. Put a deposit down on a place. This is good. Still waiting to hear for official approval, but it should be fine. Got to look around UT and department, so i know where i'll really be living for the next two years.

[livejournal.com profile] artemis42's party was fun. my cookies went over well, that makes me happy.

got to see the lovely [livejournal.com profile] starrfade, if only for a little bit.

Work is going well. And I saw a part-time job in Austin that i'm going to apply for.

Still having denial/OMG how can I be doing this to us when we have such a nice life here moments.

[livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I are getting closer and closer to finishing working on getting the basic order of wedding pictures together. Hurray for spreadsheets.

Ok, time to watch new StrongBad e-mail.

This was written at 10:30 last night...

So, to celebrate our anniversary, my mother-in-law gave [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith and I two nights at Anchorage by the Sea in Ogunquit, Maine.

We drove up this afternoon. Took 2.5 hours or so to get here. The place is beautiful. Right on the water. We have this awesome room with a king sized bed, fireplace, and flat panel tv. The only problem is that I can't quite catch the wireless signal. It's probably better this way, though.

When we got here we walked into town (which is very cute), then on the walkway by the ocean a bit. Then we rested and went back out for dinner.

We walked down the ocean walkway to Perkins Cove and had dinner at MC Perkins Cove, which is an off-shoot of Arrows Restaurant. Dear lord, the food was excellent!

Then we walked back, turned on the fireplace and Blackmore's Night and drank meed and ate some of our wedding cake's top layer. It has been in our freezer for a year and was totally fine. Still really yummy and moist. It's chocolate with raspberry swirls and buttercream icing. So rich that neither one of us could finish our piece. I'm glad we saved it.

    -------

Now we're about to eat breakfast and from our table we can view the ocean. it's so nice.

One year ago today I married the most wonderful man! It's been a year with it's ups and downs, but [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith, I love you just as much, if not more, than the day I married you.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MY LOVE!

    Trip to DC

Aerith and I left on Thursday at 6pm to drive down to DC (well, Maryland really).
    The drive down )

    Friday in DC )

    Saturday in DC )

The Mad Russian's wedding went very well. Got to see the Mad Russian's family (who I hadn't seen in ages, my her sister has GROWN) and an old high school friend. It was just what she wanted. Small, simple, and elegant. I wanted to take lots of pictures, but our camera's battery hadn't fully charged, so I was only able to get a few.
    The Ceremony
The newlyweds with Aerith and me (Aerith thinks he looks like a mobster or something...).

The reception was very nice, even if the caterer seemed a little frazzled, but the food was really good. And everyone seemed to be enjoying the conversation. At one point the newly-weds had to kiss in this Russian wedding custom. Then later I made sure that they followed the American tradition of cutting the cake and feeding it to each other. It was very cute! We didn't leave until almost 10.

Sunday morning we said good-bye to our host and started back home. The drive back was good. We got on the road around 9:15am, actually figured out the Garden State PKWY route, and with a few pit stops and a lunch stop we got back home around 4pm AND we did it on one tank of gas. Pretty good time :)

I checked the milage when I filled up the car again. We got about 28 miles per gallon.
    athene: (Coat of Arms)
Went to Maryland/DC. Saw things in museums and galleries, walked lots.

Witnessed the marriage of my best friend since 8th grade to a really wonderful guy.

    Drove home.

Details later. (if i ever actually get to write an entry...)

    Sleep now.
